Baby Willamina Home Birth // Davis, CA
This birth story, documented in January 2018 in Davis, California, was one of the most meaningful and memorable home births I have had the privilege to witness.
In the quiet hours of the morning, as the house slowly stirred awake, this sweet family gathered together to welcome their baby girl, Willamina. There was a peaceful stillness in those early moments, soon filled with anticipation as everyone prepared to meet her.
One of the most special parts of this birth was the presence of the entire family. The children were gently woken in the early hours when their mama was ready to bring their baby into the world, allowing them to be part of such a sacred and unforgettable moment. Watching their curiosity, excitement, and love unfold was incredibly moving.
Mama was surrounded by strong and steady support throughout her labor. Her parents were there soon after the birth, offering comfort and encouragement, and she was cared for by a team of loving midwives. Among them was her own sister, walking alongside her not only as family, but also as a midwife in training.
